Hidden Gems: PMQ and Central's Creative Quarter
中環隱世好去處:元創方
hkgspot Editorial·
Central is best known for finance towers and luxury malls, but a five-minute walk uphill from Hollywood Road leads to PMQ, a very different side of the district.
The building's history as staff housing for junior police officers is still visible in its layout - long open corridors of small units, now converted into studios for local fashion, ceramics, and jewellery designers.
Combine a visit with the nearby Man Mo Temple and the antique stalls of Cat Street for a half-day loop that covers old and new Hong Kong within about 15 minutes of walking.
Check the PMQ event calendar before you go - the courtyard regularly hosts weekend markets and pop-up exhibitions that are worth timing your visit around.
